OCR: Loadsa Samples! Before we begin to construct our song, you should know how to load samples or sounds into the program, and what limitations there are. Octamed can recognise and use lots of different types of samples, it's just a question of trial and error for you to find which will work and which don't. Always remember that you can't do any harm by trying to load in something that the program doesn't like. Try using the samples provided first (they are in the directory called Samples, funnily enough> and then when you become confident you can try other types. So, how do you load them in? First, Click on the box marked FILES. list of all the files The screen will change, and you will be presented with a The list will change to show what is in the directory. There are two things on the disc. Locate the (Dir) Samples and click on it. that you can do now. First, you could click on a sample then LOAD INSTR, this will load the clicked sample into the current instrument number. OR (much better> you can click on the box marked SLIST. this will take you to another screen. In the middle column, under DIR, click on ADD. Your list of Samples will now be displayed in the window on the left. Now click on a sample, and it will be loaded into the program, with it's name next to the instrument number. Click on this number to change it and load that in. Now you have two samples loaded in, then click on another sample to and you can play these tone? samples using the keyboard. Try playing Z, X, C, V. Hear the note going up in Space bar .....
